Legal notice

This legal notice governs access to and use of this website. It also sets out the information required by Article 10 of Law 34/2002 of 11 July on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSI). By using the website, you accept this legal notice.

You can also access the Bar Association’s rules through the ICAM one-stop shop (ventanilla única, in Spanish).

4. Purpose of the website

This website provides general information about the firm and the legal services it offers. Its content does not constitute legal advice on any particular case and is not a substitute for consulting a lawyer.

Contacting us by email or telephone does not in itself create a lawyer-client relationship. That relationship begins when we accept your instructions, which we set out in writing in an engagement letter (hoja de encargo). In it, we inform you about the service, the fees and how your personal data will be processed.

5. Terms of use

You undertake to use the website in accordance with the law, good faith and this legal notice. You must not do anything that could damage the website, render it unusable or prevent it from working normally.

6. Communications and professional secrecy

We are bound by professional secrecy in respect of the facts, information and documents that come to our knowledge in the course of our professional practice, in accordance with the General Statute of the Spanish Legal Profession and Organic Law 5/2024 on the Right of Defence.

Ordinary email is not a completely secure means of communication. In your first message, please tell us only what we need to understand your enquiry. Do not send us documents or particularly sensitive information until we have spoken: this allows us to check first that there is no conflict of interest. If your matter requires it, we will agree a more secure means of communication with you.

7. Conflicts of interest and collaboration with other professionals

Before accepting instructions, we check that there is no conflict of interest with other current or former clients, or with our own interests. If there is a conflict, or one arises later, we will tell you and act as required by Article 51 of the General Statute of the Spanish Legal Profession and the rules of professional conduct. This may mean declining the instructions or ceasing to act in the matter.

When a matter requires it, we work with other lawyers, with notaries and lawyers in other countries and with external collaborators. In that case, we will say so in the engagement letter.

8. Complaints

You may send us complaints or requests for information about the service provided by telephone (+34 915 014 100), by email to ricardo@vilasabogados.com or by post to our professional address: Calle del Conde de Cartagena, 43, 28007 Madrid. We will acknowledge receipt and reply as soon as possible and, in any event, within fifteen days of receiving your complaint.

You may also contact the Madrid Bar Association:

  • To make a complaint about a lawyer’s conduct, or a claim as a consumer or user, see the ICAM page Vías de reclamación (complaint procedures, in Spanish).
  • To resolve disagreements about fees, you can request mediation from media-ICAM, the Bar Association’s Conflict Management Centre (in Spanish).

9. Intellectual and industrial property

We try to ensure that the information on this website is accurate and up to date. However, the law changes and the content is general in nature. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage that may result from using this information without professional advice on your case.

We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, which is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. If we become aware that a link leads to unlawful content, we will remove it promptly.
